🤍💐 Who Was the Woman Found Near Alcona Dam? 🤍💐
On October 26, 1994, a hunter made a heartbreaking discovery along Bamfield Road near Alcona Dam, just outside Glennie, Michigan. Hidden in the quiet woods were the remains of an unidentified woman whose name, story, and loved ones remain unknown. Investigators believe she had died one to four years before she was found, meaning she may have disappeared sometime between 1990 and 1993, leaving behind unanswered questions that have endured for decades.
She was believed to be a White female between 30 and 50 years old, standing approximately 5’0″ to 5’4″ tall. She had brown hair, possibly with a reddish tint, though her eye color could not be determined. One of her most recognizable features was a distinct gap between her two upper front teeth. Her dental health suggested she had experienced years of hardship, with evidence of poor dental care as well as missing and/or extracted teeth.
Her body also revealed signs of a difficult life long before her death. Years earlier, she had suffered a fracture to her left arm just above the elbow, an injury investigators believe may have been caused by a motor vehicle accident. She also had evidence of injuries to her upper and lower thoracic spine, suggesting she had endured significant trauma during her lifetime. These injuries may have been known to family, friends, coworkers, or medical professionals. Someone, somewhere, may remember a woman with these distinctive characteristics and injuries.
Despite decades of investigation, she has never been identified. She is listed in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as UP #8371, and her case remains open. Behind every unidentified victim is a person who laughed, dreamed, struggled, and mattered deeply to someone. More than thirty years later, this woman still deserves to have her name restored and her loved ones deserve the answers they have been waiting for. Even the smallest memory or piece of information could be the key to finally giving her back her identity. 🕯️
