Jane Brooklyn Doe (2023): A Young Life Without a Name
On August 10, 2023, a young woman was found unresponsive on Lexington Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. To this day, her name remains unknown, leaving behind a heartbreaking mystery and countless unanswered questions. Someone, somewhere, may still be searching for the daughter, sister, friend, or loved one they never realized was lost.
Investigators believe she was between 17 and 25 years old. She stood approximately 5’7″ tall, weighed around 202 pounds, and had brown hair about 10 inches long with bleached tips. She also had a tongue piercing and several distinctive tattoos that may help identify her: a cross on the right side of her neck; the name “LITO” or possibly “LITD” alongside a butterfly on the left side of her chest; flowers on the front of her right thigh; and a heart on the back of her right wrist. When she was found, she was wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts.
A forensic facial reconstruction created by a National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) forensic artist offers a glimpse of what she may have looked like in life, with the hope that someone will recognize her. Every unidentified person has a story, a family, and a name. Jane Brooklyn Doe deserves to be remembered not for the way she was found, but for the life she lived. If her description or reconstruction feels familiar, even the smallest piece of information could help restore her identity and bring long-awaited answers to those who may still be missing her.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner at 212-447-2030.
