Sixteen-year-old Uriel “Uri” Colon has been missing since October 16, 2025, after leaving Greenwood Lake, New York, with another teenage friend. What began as a missing persons case has become every parent’s worst nightmare, leaving two families desperately hoping for the safe return of their children.
Uri’s mother, Brenda Lugo, is facing an unimaginable battle. While undergoing treatment for cancer, she is also enduring the heartbreak of not knowing where her son is or if he is safe. Surrounded by family photos, treasured memories, and the reminders of the little boy she raised, Brenda shared that although Uri is now 16 years old, she still sees him as her little boy. Every day without him has been filled with worry, fear, and hope that he will walk through the front door again.
Before leaving, Uri wrote his mother a heartfelt letter that has left many in tears. In it, he apologized and encouraged her to continue fighting cancer, writing, “I’m so sorry, Mom. Please keep fighting cancer and don’t give up.” Those words have become her source of strength as she continues to plead for the one thing she wants most, to have her son home safely.
Investigators believe Uri and another 15-year-old boy traveled through New Jersey and Pennsylvania before eventually being seen on surveillance video at a coffee shop in Key West, Florida. According to police, the teens did not appear to be in immediate distress, and they are currently considered runaways. Even so, their families remain deeply concerned and are asking the public not to ignore any possible sightings or information.
For Brenda, this isn’t about punishment, it’s about knowing her son is alive and safe. She continues to share one simple message: “I love you. I need you to come home.” Those words reflect the pain, love, and unwavering hope of a mother who refuses to give up on her child.
