WHO WAS SHE? 23 YEARS WITHOUT A NAME 🔎🌹
On May 26, 2003, the remains of an unidentified Black woman were discovered inside a dumpster near Fred Moore Highway and I-94 in St. Clair Township, Michigan. More than two decades have passed, yet she still does not have her name back, and someone may be holding the piece of information that can finally change that.
Investigators estimate that she was between 19 and 35 years old, approximately 5’5″ tall and 130 pounds, with black hair. Skeletal evidence revealed that she had suffered a pelvic injury within the previous year or two of her life, a significant detail that could potentially help someone recognize her.
At the time she was found, she was wearing a multicolored T-shirt, green polyester underwear with off-white lace trim, and a zippered jacket. Inside one of the jacket pockets was a small, round wooden handheld mirror, approximately three inches in diameter. These seemingly ordinary belongings may have once been familiar to someone who loved and cared about her.
Investigators also determined that she had no apparent dental work, including fillings or crowns. Authorities believe she may have come from, or been transported from, the Detroit, Michigan area, and investigators have explored the possibility that she may have gone by the nickname “Nessie” or “Nessy.”
Think about that for a moment.
Someone knew her name. Someone knew her voice. Someone knew where she lived, who her friends were, what she liked, or perhaps where she had been struggling with an injury. Someone may have noticed her absence in 2003 and wondered what happened to her.
But today, she remains unidentified.
💔 She was more than a case number. She was someone’s daughter, sister, friend, mother, or loved one. She had a life, memories, dreams, and people who should have known what happened to her.
After more than 20 years, investigators are still asking the public for help. A memory from 2003 that seemed insignificant at the time could be the clue that finally gives this woman her identity.
