The Murdered Desiree Michaud

The Murdered
Desiree Michaud
Groton, Connecticut

🕯️💔 42 YEARS LATER… WHO KILLED DESIREE MICHAUD? 💔🕯️

Desiree Michaud was only 18 years old when her life was brutally taken on April 7, 1984, inside Room 114 of the Flagship Motel on Route 184 in Groton, Connecticut. More than four decades later, her murder remains unsolved, and the questions surrounding that night continue to haunt those who knew her.

Desiree was discovered around 4 a.m., alone in the motel room. She had been strangled with a radio cord and suffered a stab/puncture wound to her chest. Her death was later determined to be caused by asphyxia from strangulation.

The man who found her, George Harris, known as “Angel,” told investigators he was Desiree’s boyfriend and had rented the room. He said the last time he saw her alive was around 10 p.m. in nearby New London, where she was walking along Bank Street, a popular spot for sex work. Angel cooperated fully with investigators and passed a polygraph examination.

But there were other unsettling details that night.

A guest in Room 113 called the motel front desk around 1 a.m., reporting that she could hear angry voices and a great deal of commotion coming from Room 114. The front desk called the room, but no one answered. Tragically, no one went to investigate further.

Several guests later reported seeing a mysterious man outside Room 114 wearing Western-style clothing and a cowboy hat. Two sketches were created and released to the public. Investigators believed they had located and cleared the man, but current investigators have questioned whether the actual “cowboy” was ever found.

The same guest in room 113 later underwent hypnosis and recalled hearing a man and woman arguing. The woman sounded extremely angry and was shouting in a high-pitched voice. Then came frightened screams, followed by several loud thumping sounds.

Desiree’s friends told investigators they had seen her several times that night on Bank Street. Her last known sighting was reportedly around 11 p.m., when she and her friends went to a house party in New London. The name of the person who threw the party was not named. But what happened afterward remains a mystery. How did Desiree get from that party to the motel? Who was she with? And who was waiting for her in Room 114?

Investigators interviewed several men who were known to have been among Desiree’s clients, but apparently no charges resulted. There were also questions surrounding a traumatic incident Desiree reported when she was just 16, when she said she had been kidnapped and sexually assaulted. The man accused in that case was eventually acquitted after Desiree did not appear in court.

Over the years, countless theories have circulated. Was Desiree killed by a client? Was someone from her past responsible? Could another known offender have been involved? These theories remain unproven, and no one has been convicted of Desiree’s murder.

But Desiree was so much more than the circumstances of her death.

Those who knew her described her as beautiful, intelligent, artistic, and a wonderful friend. She created paintings and murals, and other local artists later created works in her memory. Her life even inspired a play. 🎨

Desiree was only 18. She had a life ahead of her, talents to share, friendships to make, and dreams that never got the chance to unfold.

Someone out there may still know what happened to her. Someone may have heard a story, remembered a detail, or been afraid to speak for all these years.

After 42 years, Desiree deserves more than theories. She deserves the truth. She deserves justice. She deserves to be remembered.
