A mystery that began more than 3 years ago has finally given a name to a woman whose family hadn’t seen her in at least 50 years.
In May 2023, a landscaper working in a wooded area near South Military Trail in Boynton Beach, Florida, made a chilling discovery: human remains.
For years, the woman’s identity remained unknown. 🔎
Now, investigators have confirmed she was Regina Hess, born August 22, 1948. She was 74 when she died.
💔 Authorities say Hess had been estranged from her family for many years. Relatives told investigators they had last spoken with her about 10–12 years before her death, but hadn’t actually seen her in more than 50 years.
🧬 Her identity was finally confirmed through forensic investigative genetic genealogy, extensive research and DNA testing.
But the mystery is far from over. ⚠️
Investigators say Hess’ death is considered suspicious, and her cause of death remains undetermined.
At the scene, authorities also found clothing believed to belong to her, including a gray tank top and black pants.
Now detectives are trying to piece together the missing years of Regina’s life and determine what happened to her.
