🕯️ Remembering Tamesha Beam | A Life Cut Tragically Short 💔
In the early morning hours of April 26, 2015, 28-year-old Tamesha Marice Beam was found dead along an I-85 entrance ramp near Cox Road in Gastonia, North Carolina.
Tamesha had suffered traumatic injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Investigators determined that she was the victim of a hit-and-run. But more than a decade later, the person responsible has never been identified.
Who was driving the vehicle that struck Tamesha? And what exactly happened during those final moments of her life?
💔 The events leading up to Tamesha’s death began earlier that night.
Tamesha had been out with friends in Charlotte when an argument reportedly broke out. She and her sister were eventually passengers in a white Jeep traveling back toward Gastonia.
Around 4:30 a.m., another argument reportedly occurred. The Jeep stopped near the entrance ramp to I-85 at Cox Road, and Tamesha and her sister got out.
Tamesha’s sister, Diandria, began walking toward home. At first, she believed Tamesha was either still with the others or had returned to the vehicle.
Then she realized her sister wasn’t with her.
According to police, the driver of the Jeep reported seeing an unknown vehicle come down the ramp and hearing a noise. The driver did not stop to investigate and left the area.
About an hour later, the driver and Diandria spoke and began looking for Tamesha.
Around 5:30 a.m., Diandria returned to the I-85 ramp. That’s where she found her sister.
🚨 Investigators believe she had been struck by a passing vehicle, and whoever was behind the wheel left the scene.
For Tamesha’s family, the horror of that morning has never truly ended. They have spent years waiting for answers about what happened to her and who was responsible.
But while the circumstances of her death are heartbreaking, Tamesha’s story is about more than how she died.
Born September 13, 1987, Tamesha was a woman of faith and was deeply involved in her church. She sang in the choir and was constantly eager to learn more about her faith. Her family and friends described her as outgoing, hardworking, funny, and easy to talk to.
She loved basketball and was a devoted Los Angeles Lakers fan, with Kobe Bryant as her favorite player. She enjoyed R&B and hip-hop, loved to dance and sing, and wasn’t afraid to try new things. Her mother fondly remembers Tamesha experimenting with different hairstyles and wigs.
Tamesha had a personality that was hard to miss. She made friends easily, loved making people laugh, and brought energy into every room she entered.
Most importantly, she was a mother.
Her daughter was still a toddler when Tamesha was killed. Tamesha was also a daughter, sister, fiancé, and friend who had her entire future ahead of her. She was looking forward to getting married and watching her daughter grow up.
Instead, her family was left grieving, and searching for answers.
Today, Tamesha’s daughter continues to grow up surrounded by family. Her loved ones see pieces of Tamesha in her, including her involvement in church and her love of the Bible. One day, they know she will have questions about her mother.
And when she does, they want her to know that Tamesha was so much more than the circumstances of her death.
She was bright.
She was loving.
She was funny.
She was ambitious.
And someone took her life and left her on the side of a highway.
