On April 5, 2025, a woman was found unresponsive inside the L train subway station at 8th Avenue and 14th Street in Manhattan, New York. Despite efforts to document her case, her identity remains unknown. She is listed in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as UP142450.
She was a Black woman, believed to have been between 40 and 60 years old. Her measured height was approximately 5 feet 2 inches, and she weighed around 155 pounds. She had black, coarse, curly hair measuring approximately 3.5 inches long and brown eyes.
Somewhere, there may be someone who remembers her smile, wonders why she stopped calling, or has been searching for a loved one without knowing what happened. We do not know her name, her story, or the circumstances that brought her to that subway station. What we do know is that she was a person whose life mattered, and she deserves to be identified.
šÆļø Every unidentified person has a story. She may have been a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend, or someone who touched the lives of others in ways we may never know. Behind this case number was a human being who deserved dignity, compassion, and to be remembered by name.
