🕯️💔 Vanished Without a Trace: The Unanswered Disappearance of Tina Sinclair and Her Daughter, Bethany

On February 4, 2001, 34-year-old Tina Marie Sinclair and her 15-year-old daughter, Bethany Anne Sinclair, disappeared from Chesterfield, New Hampshire. More than 25 years have passed, yet neither has been found, and their loved ones are still waiting for answers about what happened to them.

Tina and Bethany lived with Tina’s boyfriend, Eugene Van Bowman Jr., at a home on Mountain Road in West Chesterfield. According to Bowman, he and Tina had argued that day. He told investigators that he left the residence and returned later to find both Tina and Bethany gone. Their clothing was missing, but Tina’s vehicle, personal belongings, and beloved 15-year-old cat were reportedly left behind.

Neither Tina nor Bethany has contacted family or friends since that February weekend. Their disappearance was not reported until February 10, six days after they were last seen.

The last known conversation with Bethany before the disappearance was with her boyfriend late on the night of February 3. They spoke between approximately 11:30 p.m. and midnight and made plans for Valentine’s Day. He had already purchased a ring for her. There was no indication that Bethany expected to disappear from her life or the people she cared about.

The following day, an unidentified woman called Bethany’s high school to report that she was ill and would be absent. Investigators have never established who made that call, leaving another unanswered question in an already troubling case.

Tina was reportedly trying to build a better future for herself and her daughter. She had recently graduated from cosmetology school and dreamed of opening her own beauty salon. According to relatives, her relationship with Bowman had been troubled, and family members alleged that he had been abusive. Tina’s sister had expressed concerns about Bethany’s safety and wanted her to come live with her in Connecticut. Tina reportedly told her sister she would find a way out of the relationship.

Her family does not believe Tina would have willingly disappeared with Bethany without telling anyone. Relatives described Tina as someone who maintained close connections with loved ones, and her former husband said she would typically reach out within hours after an argument. The prolonged silence was completely out of character.

There has also been no reported activity on Tina’s bank account, credit cards, or cellphone since her disappearance, and she never cashed her final paycheck. Neither Tina nor Bethany has had reported activity on their Social Security numbers.

Investigators conducted extensive searches, including searches near the Connecticut River, which bordered the property where they lived. Bowman was reportedly seen on the river in a yellow hovercraft during the early morning hours of February 4. Despite the search efforts, authorities found no evidence establishing what happened to Tina and Bethany.

Investigators suspect foul play may have been involved. Bowman has been described in reporting on the case as a person of interest, but he has not been charged in connection with their disappearances. No arrests have been made, and the cases remain unsolved.

Tina was described as a white female with blonde hair and green eyes. She stood approximately 5’2” tall and weighed around 120 pounds. She has a surgical scar extending downward from her navel and a butterfly tattoo on her right ankle. Her ears are double-pierced, and she previously broke her right arm and collarbone. Her nickname was “Tee,” and she had also used the married name Mayotte.

Bethany, known as “Beth,” was 15 when she disappeared. She had brown hair and brown eyes, wore eyeglasses, and had a U-shaped scar on her forehead. She stood between approximately 5’2” and 5’7” tall and weighed between 120 and 135 pounds. She may have been wearing a crucifix pendant necklace and may have used the last name Deuso.

In February 2026, the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit marked 25 years since their disappearance and renewed its appeal for information. Investigators continue to review evidence and pursue leads, including opportunities made possible by advances in technology.

The passage of time has brought enormous changes to the lives of those who remember Tina and Bethany. Tina would turn 60 in 2026, while Bethany would turn 41. Their family has continued to carry the weight of not knowing where they went or what happened on that cold February night.

💔 Two lives. One mother and her teenage daughter. Twenty-five years without answers.

Tina had dreams for her future, and Bethany had so much of her life still ahead of her. Somewhere, there may be someone who remembers something about that weekend in February 2001, something that seemed unimportant at the time but could now help investigators piece together the truth.

🕊️ Please share Tina and Bethany’s story. Even after 25 years, information can still come to light, and one conversation could make a difference to the people who have spent decades waiting for answers.
