ππ―οΈ 44 Years Without Justice: The Unsolved Murder of Tammy Little
In October 1982, 20-year-old Tammy Little had her whole life ahead of her. A Portsmouth native and student at the Portsmouth Beauty School, she was remembered by her family as someone who brought joy and kindness to those around her.
Tammy was last seen alive in the early morning hours of October 16, 1982, after returning home from a concert in Boston. Three days later, on October 19, she was found murdered inside her apartment at 315 Maplewood Avenue in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. An autopsy determined that she had died from massive head injuries.
Now, 44 years later, the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit has released a new photograph of Tammy in hopes of generating fresh leads. Investigators believe someone who knew her, attended school with her, or lived in the neighborhood may remember something that could help move the investigation forward.
Her family continues to cherish her memory. In a heartfelt statement, they described Tammy as βthe most joyful personβ and βeveryone’s friend,β remembering how she was always there to comfort others and share in their happiness. They say her light continues to live on in their hearts.
Investigators are especially interested in hearing from former Portsmouth Beauty School classmates, people who lived near 315 Maplewood Avenue, or anyone who spent time in the neighborhood during October 1982. They also want to speak with anyone who may have seen or spoken with Tammy between October 16 and October 19. A detail that seemed unimportant at the time could now make a difference.
The New Hampshire Cold Case Unit and Portsmouth Police Department continue to investigate Tammy’s murder, including reviewing evidence for possible modern forensic testing.
