ππ STILL MISSING: What Happened to 17-Year-Old Aron Holmes Silverman? ππ
On the night of June 5, 1993, 17-year-old Aron Holmes Silverman left a party in Norfolk, Virginia, with a woman he had spent much of the evening talking to. He was never seen or heard from again.
More than three decades have passed, and the circumstances surrounding Aron’s disappearance remain a mystery. What happened after he walked away from that party? And who was the woman last known to have been with him?
Aron was attending a gathering at a friend’s home when he met a freelance go-go dancer from Newport News, Virginia. According to his brother, the two spent much of the evening together. At some point, the woman gave Aron a coral necklace, which he was wearing when he disappeared.
Aron reportedly told her that his family owned a boat and that she could join them for a ride sometime in the future. Later that night, the two left the party together. Both Aron and many of the other guests had been drinking, making the events of that evening even more difficult to piece together.
At first, his disappearance did not immediately raise alarms. Aron had a history of leaving home for several days at a time, so his family initially believed he might return. But as the days passed and he remained gone, their concern grew.
What makes his disappearance especially troubling is that Aron left behind nearly everything. His guitar, favorite fishing rod, and personal belongings were not taken. He had not told his family or close friends that he intended to leave, and there was no known plan for him to disappear.
His father refused to stop looking.
After reporting Aron missing, he began visiting bars throughout the Newport News area, hoping someone might recognize his son or remember seeing him. During his search, he heard about a dancer who reportedly had a blond boyfriend matching Aron’s description. He was told the woman lived in a trailer park and drove a red Pontiac Trans Am.
But despite his efforts, Aron’s father was unable to locate the woman or the vehicle. Investigators have never confirmed whether she was the same person who left the party with Aron.
Aron was 17 years old. He enjoyed fishing and playing guitar, and despite disagreements with his parents, his best friend did not believe their relationship problems were serious enough for Aron to disappear permanently without contacting anyone.
His family has spent decades without knowing what happened to him.
Today, Aron would be 50 years old. An age-progressed image has been released to help the public recognize what he might look like as an adult.
Someone may remember Aron from that night. Someone may recognize the woman he left with, the coral necklace he was wearing, or the red Pontiac Trans Am mentioned during his father’s search.
A teenager does not simply become a forgotten face because time has passed. Aron deserves to be found, and his family deserves answers.
