🍂🔍 A Family Still Searching: Where Is Douglas Dunphy? 🔍🍂
Nine months have passed since 78-year-old Douglas J. Dunphy disappeared from Hampden, Maine, and his family is still desperately searching for answers. Despite extensive searches and an ongoing investigation, Douglas has not been found.
Douglas was reported missing in January 2026 after his family became concerned when they could no longer reach him. His sister, Dawn Dunphy, recalled receiving the devastating phone call from her brother on January 15, telling her that their father was missing.
When the family realized Douglas was gone, several of his belongings were still at home. His two pairs of work boots, coat, and hats had been left behind. For his loved ones, the unanswered questions have only grown with time.
Authorities initially believed Douglas may have been traveling in his white Ford Econoline van. On January 29, Maine State Police confirmed that the van had been recovered, but Douglas himself was nowhere to be found.
The investigation was later taken over by the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit due to its complexity. Multiple agencies, including Hampden Police, Bangor Police, and the Maine Warden Service, have worked together to locate him.
Extensive searches of Douglas’s Kennebec Road property and surrounding areas have unfortunately failed to locate him.
In October 2026, his family also expressed frustration over delays in processing evidence collected during the investigation. Dawn made an emotional plea for additional resources and continued efforts, explaining how desperately the family needs to find their father.
Maine State Police are asking hunters and members of the public to remain vigilant for anything that could help investigators.
💔 Somewhere, there may be someone who saw Douglas or noticed something unusual around the time he disappeared. That information could make a difference.
Douglas is someone’s father and a deeply loved member of his family. His loved ones should not have to continue wondering where he is or what happened to him.
Please take a moment to look at his photograph and remember his identifying features. A familiar face, a vehicle sighting, or a detail someone may have overlooked could help bring investigators closer to finding him.
