The Nameless
Newark NJ (May 1984)

💔 Who Was He? Help Restore His Name🙏
On May 4, 1984, the body of an unidentified White man was discovered in the Passaic River in Newark, New Jersey. Decades have passed, yet no one has come forward to claim him, and his identity remains a heartbreaking mystery. Somewhere, someone may still be wondering what happened to a father, brother, son, uncle, or friend who simply never came home.
Investigators believe the man was born sometime between 1929 and 1944, placing him between approximately 40 and 55 years old at the time he was found. He stood between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighed approximately 135 to 145 pounds, and had black hair. His eye color could not be determined, and he had no known scars, marks, or tattoos that could help identify him.
When he was found, he was wearing a blue sleeveless padded jacket marked “Sutton Place,” a red and black plaid shirt, a white Fruit of the Loom T-shirt, blue jeans, white Jockey underwear, and blue socks. Investigators also noted that he had marked dextroscoliosis, a condition in which the spine curves significantly to the right, an important medical characteristic that someone who knew him may recognize.
Although no photographs of this unidentified man are available, investigators do have partial X-rays and dental records that may help confirm his identity if a possible match is found.
For more than 40 years, this man has been known only as John Doe. He deserves more than a case number. He deserves to have his name restored, his story told, and, if possible, to be reunited with the family who may still be searching for answers.
If you recognize this description or have any information that could help identify him, please contact the New Jersey State Police at 1-800-709-7090.
Even the smallest detail could help give this man back the one thing he has been missing for decades, his identity.
