On May 13, 2024, a young Black male was found along the shoreline near Harlem River Drive in New York City. Investigators believe he had been gone for less than a week before he was discovered, yet his identity remains unknown. Someone, somewhere, has undoubtedly wondered where he is, carrying unanswered questions and hoping for the day he comes home.
He is believed to have been between 16 and 23 years old, stood approximately 5’8″, and weighed around 150 pounds. He had 1.5-inch dreadlocks and a goatee. At the time he was found, he was wearing a black hoodie with zippered sides featuring the “Monkey” logo and text, a black-and-white fleece-lined winter jacket with a “New York” emblem on the front, a blue shirt, size XL black sweatpants, black long johns, plaid boxers, socks, and white Puma sneakers with blue and yellow trim.
To help restore his identity, a facial reconstruction was created by a forensic artist with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), showing what he may have looked like in life. Additional digital reconstructions of the clothing he was wearing have also been released in the hope that someone recognizes him.
This young man had a name, a story, and people who may still be searching for him. No one deserves to remain unidentified. Even the smallest memory could be the missing piece that finally brings him back to his loved ones.
