On July 31, 1991, a heartbreaking discovery was made along the southbound lanes of Interstate 270 in Frederick County, Maryland. Hidden at the bottom of an embankment lay the badly decomposed remains of a young woman, believed to have been between 17 and 25 years old. Investigators determined she may have been left there for one to two weeks before she was found. Because of the advanced decomposition, the cause of her death could never be determined, leaving behind more questions than answers. The location where she was abandoned was less than 10 miles from a truck stop, a detail investigators continue to consider significant.

This young woman was described as White, standing approximately 5’0″ to 5’2″ tall and weighing between 110 and 120 pounds, with brown or black hair. At the time of her death, she was wearing a “Cap Ferrat” brand denim skort (size 11) and a dark-colored tank top. She also wore several pieces of jewelry that may have held special meaning to her: an “Advance” brand silver digital wristwatch with a gold face on her right wrist, a silver bangle bracelet, a “Trifari” gold-plated bracelet on her left wrist, a gold herringbone necklace, and a bright neon pink nylon anklet decorated with black and green dots.

For more than three decades, she has remained without her name. Somewhere, someone may remember a young woman who suddenly disappeared, whose absence has never been explained. Every unidentified victim was someone’s daughter, friend, classmate, or loved one, and she deserves to be remembered and finally brought home. A single memory, no matter how small it may seem, could be the missing piece that helps restore her identity and bring long-awaited answers.
