Sixteen-year-old Jafet Elias Jemmott has been missing since November 28, 2025, after leaving his home in Arverne, Queens, New York, early that morning. Jafet had reportedly argued with his father the night before about plans to go to Brooklyn with friends. The following morning, he left home around 6:00 a.m., but he never made it to the mall. His family was later able to track his phone to the area of the Cross Bay Bridge before the phone lost power, and they believe he may have boarded the Q52 bus. His family has also raised concerns that Jafet may have been communicating with someone online before he disappeared. According to his family, he received WhatsApp messages roughly two hours before leaving, but they were unable to determine who sent them or what the messages said.
Jafet is described as a 16-year-old male, approximately 5’6″ tall and 140 pounds, with a slim build, brown eyes, and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants, and white sneakers. His family says Jafet does not have a history of leaving home, making his disappearance especially frightening and heartbreaking. His father, Federico, has publicly expressed how deeply he wants his son to come home, saying he wishes he could ask Jafet for forgiveness and tell him how much he loves him. 💔🙏
The search for Jafet has brought together family members, community members, and local activists who have been distributing flyers and searching areas around the Rockaways and Cross Bay Bridge. Please don’t let Jafet’s story fade away. Someone may have seen him, spoken with him, or know something that could help lead investigators to him.
