The night before Pauline vanished, her daughter reportedly overheard Pauline and Albert arguing. The following day, Pauline was gone.

There was another troubling connection. Pauline was scheduled to be interviewed by Maine State Police investigators regarding the homicide of Janet Baxter. Investigators considered Pauline a possible witness against Cochran.

In 1998, Albert P. Cochran was convicted of Janet Baxter’s murder. Despite that conviction, Cochran has denied having any knowledge of Pauline’s disappearance.
