On June 25, 2010, 54-year-old Michael Ralph “Mickey” Brougham disappeared from Belchertown, Massachusetts. He may have been traveling to Loudon, New Hampshire, to attend a NASCAR race, but what happened after he left home remains a mystery.
More than 16 years later, Mickey has never been found, and his family continues to hope that someone will finally come forward with information that could help explain his disappearance.
💔 A Disappearance That Left His Family Searching
Mickey was an excavation contractor who was close to his family. He was last seen by relatives on Friday, June 25, 2010.
Two days later, on June 27, some of his personal belongings, including his wallet and cell phone, were reportedly discovered near the New Hampshire International Motor Speedway in Loudon. Reports also indicate that his watch was found in the area.
Yet Mickey’s truck and motorcycle remained parked at his home.
Authorities searched in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire, but no trace of him was found. Investigators have never confirmed whether Mickey attended the NASCAR race, and the possibility that he traveled to the Laconia, New Hampshire, area has also been considered.
The discovery of his belongings only deepened the mystery. Why were his possessions found near the racetrack while his vehicles remained at home? What happened to Mickey after he was last seen?
🔎 His Family Believes Someone Knows Something
Over the years, Mickey’s loved ones and members of his Belchertown community have continued efforts to bring attention to his disappearance. Missing-person signs appeared throughout the area, and a reward of $50,000 was offered for information.
His sister, Cindy Brougham Brown, has publicly expressed her belief that people in the Belchertown area may have information about what happened to her brother.
The family has repeatedly asked anyone who may have heard something, seen something, or knows even a small detail to come forward.
His sister Carla Chaisson has also emphasized how valuable even seemingly minor information could be in helping investigators determine what happened to Mickey and, potentially, locate his remains.
Authorities have stated that the case remains open and active, despite the lack of significant leads.
🧩 Could These Details Help Identify Mickey?
Mickey was 54 years old when he disappeared. He was described as a white male, approximately 5’4″ to 5’6″ tall and weighing between 190 and 200 pounds. He had brown hair and blue eyes.
He had several distinctive identifying features:
🔹 A large surgical scar on his sternum following coronary artery bypass surgery in January 2010.
🔹 A wolf tattoo on his left shoulder.
🔹 Dupuytren’s contractures affecting the third and fourth fingers of both hands.
🔹 A gold chain necklace with a distinctive scorpion medallion, reportedly about two inches long, with a diamond on the tip of the tail.
Mickey was also diabetic and reportedly did not have his medication or identification with him when he disappeared, adding to concerns for his well-being.
His case has even been featured among missing-person and homicide cases on playing cards distributed to prison inmates in Massachusetts in an effort to generate new information.

Mickey’s disappearance has left his loved ones facing years of uncertainty. Despite the passage of time, they have continued to speak publicly, hoping that someone who knows something will decide to come forward.
