🚨 A FATHER VANISHES: The Case of Stanley Shayne Bassett ⏳

On April 2, 1977, 29-year-old Stanley Shayne Bassett was last known to be in Franklin, New Hampshire, with his nine-month-old son. The following day, the infant was found abandoned in a cardboard box inside a stairwell at the Massachusetts State House in Boston. Stanley was never found.

Stanley was a single father, and his family did not believe he would have willingly left his baby without arranging for his care.

After the baby entered foster care, Stanley’s sister recognized his photograph in a newspaper. She and her husband eventually gained custody and adopted him.

Stanley had also left behind five dogs without arranging for their care, something his family considered unusual. He had another young son from a previous marriage who lived with his mother.

🌲 Stanley previously operated Nature Gardens, a natural food store in Penacook, New Hampshire, which closed in 1975. He was later arrested on drug-related charges and served part of a one-year sentence in 1976. He was reportedly still on probation when he disappeared.

Months earlier, while working a work-release job, Stanley reportedly said he had noticed a car following him and feared for his safety. Whether this incident was connected to his case remains unknown.

🔎 Stanley was 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighed between 160 and 180 pounds. He had blond hair, hazel eyes, and a scar on his leg from a previous hunting accident. He may have gone by his middle name, Shayne.

His disappearance was not formally reported until 2022, and the case remains open.
