On May 30, 2016, 22-year-old Lakerian Demell Thomas-Peters disappeared from Pensacola, Florida. Nearly a decade later, his whereabouts remain unknown, and his family is still without the answers they desperately need.
Lakerian, who also went by the nickname “Smerff” or “Smurf,” was an aspiring rapper with a job at a distribution company. In the months leading up to his disappearance, he had reportedly lost his job and was struggling with personal problems and depression. His family knew he was going through a difficult time, but nothing could have prepared them for the uncertainty that followed.
On the day he vanished, Lakerian was last seen walking along the railroad tracks between the Lincoln Park and Wedgewood areas of Pensacola. He was reportedly driving neither away nor taking his car with him; his vehicle was left behind after his mother had declined his request to borrow her car.
After that day, there were no further signs of Lakerian. His cellphone was turned off, and his bank account has remained untouched. Despite the passage of time, what happened to him remains unknown.
At the time of his disappearance, Lakerian was 5’6″ tall and weighed approximately 120 pounds. He had black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray, red, and white shirt, pink and white polo shorts, and white shoes.
One of the most recognizable features that could help identify Lakerian is his collection of tattoos. He has multiple tattoos across his chest, abdomen, arms, and shoulders, including the words “Vanity First” on his upper chest. These markings may be especially important to anyone who remembers seeing him.
Lakerian would be 32 years old today.
Although foul play has not been suspected, his disappearance remains unresolved. There are still so many unanswered questions about his last known movements and what may have happened after he was seen walking along those railroad tracks.
💙 Lakerian is more than a missing-person case. He is a son, a loved one, and a young man who had dreams and a future ahead of him. Somewhere, there may be someone who knows something, remembers seeing him, or holds a piece of information that could finally bring answers to his family.
