On February 15, 2008, Sasha G. Davis, her infant daughter Selah Lee Davis, and family friend Jarib “Griff” Bennett left the Bronx, New York, for what was supposed to be a simple trip to Rochester to visit friends. They planned to return home just four days later. Instead, they disappeared without a trace, leaving behind devastated loved ones and a mystery that remains unsolved nearly two decades later.
Sasha was 30 years old, described as a Black woman standing between 5’5″ and 5’7″, weighing about 120 pounds. She had black hair, brown eyes, pierced ears, a mole near her right eye, and distinctive tattoos on her left breast and right calf. Most importantly, she was a devoted mother whose sudden disappearance was completely out of character. She left behind another daughter who has spent years growing up without knowing what happened to her mother or baby sister.
Traveling with Sasha was her infant daughter, Selah, whose life had barely begun. She vanished alongside her mother before she ever had the chance to experience childhood, celebrate birthdays, or create memories with the family who loved her. Her disappearance remains one of the most heartbreaking aspects of this case.
Also with them was Jarib Bennett, known to friends and family by the nickname “Griff.” The 27-year-old New Jersey resident stood 5’11” and weighed between 215 and 230 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Jarib was a husband and father who left behind a wife and two young daughters. Those who knew him say it was unimaginable that he would willingly disappear and abandon his family.
The trio was expected home on February 19, but they never returned. Days later, on February 27, their rental vehicle was discovered abandoned on Genesee Street in southwest Rochester, near Genesee Valley Park. There was no sign of Sasha, Selah, or Jarib. No confirmed sightings, no phone calls, and no explanation for what happened after they arrived in Rochester.
Despite years of investigation, very little evidence has been uncovered. The disappearance of Sasha, her baby daughter, and Jarib remains an enduring mystery that continues to haunt their families. Every passing year is another year without answers, closure, or justice. Somewhere, someone may know what happened during that February trip. Even the smallest piece of information could help investigators finally uncover the truth and bring long-overdue answers to the families who continue to wait.
