The Missing
Marilyn Lehan

🕊️ MISSING: MARILYN J. LEHAN
Eastport, Maine | Missing since 2004
Age at disappearance: 49
Marilyn J. Lehan was a college graduate, a sister, an aunt, an animal lover, and a woman who spent much of her life moving from place to place with her husband.
Then, somewhere along the way, Marilyn disappeared.
And for years, her family didn’t realize she was missing.
🌊 A Life in Eastport
Marilyn and her husband had lived in Eastport, Maine, in a home overlooking Harris Cove. She had purchased the property in 2001, using part of an inheritance from her mother.
The oceanfront property was large, about 14 acres, and Marilyn appeared to embrace life in coastal Maine.
She was also a devoted animal lover. Throughout her life, she cared for dogs and cats, but one of her most beloved companions was an African Grey parrot named Emmett, who had been part of her family for years.
Marilyn was also a member of the local Catholic church.
📅 The Last Time Her Family Saw Her
Marilyn’s family had always been accustomed to going long periods without hearing from her. She and her husband lived somewhat independently and moved frequently throughout their marriage.
That made what happened next especially difficult to recognize.
The last confirmed in-person visit with Marilyn was in the summer of 2002, when her teenage nephew traveled to Maine to visit her.
Family members recalled nothing unusual about the visit.
There was also documented contact with Marilyn in 2003, including a financial transaction involving money she borrowed from one of her brothers.
After that, the trail becomes increasingly difficult to follow.
🏍️ A Visit That Changed Everything
In August 2012, Marilyn’s brother Pat was traveling through Maine on a motorcycle trip.
He decided to make a surprise visit to his sister.
Pat followed the road toward Marilyn’s former home on Clark Street, expecting to find his sister and brother-in-law there.
But when he arrived, no one answered the door.
Pat spoke with neighbors and what he learned left him deeply concerned.
According to Pat, the neighbors told him that Marilyn and her husband had not lived at the property for years. The home had new owners, and they could not tell him where Marilyn had gone.
Pat had believed he was simply going to reconnect with his sister.
Instead, he left with questions.
📬 When the Family Realized Something Was Wrong
Marilyn’s family had never been in constant contact with her, so the passage of time initially didn’t seem unusual.
Then came the Christmas cards.
In 2008 and 2009, the family mailed Christmas cards to Marilyn’s Eastport address.
They never received a response.
Eventually, one of the cards was returned as undeliverable.
That was when the family’s concerns grew.
🔎 The Search
Marilyn was eventually reported missing in 2013.
Authorities investigated her disappearance and conducted an extensive search of the approximately 14 acres behind her former Eastport home.
Cadaver dogs were used during the search, but investigators did not find anything of significance.
Her husband later moved to California. Authorities have stated that he was cooperative with the investigation.
Despite the passage of years, investigators have not publicly established what happened to Marilyn or where she went.
👩 Who Is Marilyn?
Marilyn was a 49-year-old White woman when she disappeared.
- 📏 Height: 5’9″
- ⚖️ Weight: Approximately 160 pounds
- 💇 Hair: Blonde/brown
- 👁️ Eyes: Brown
Her family remembers a woman who was intelligent, independent, deeply connected to her animals, and who lived a life that often took her far from home.
She graduated magna cum laude from Seattle University in 1977 with a degree in humanities.
For much of her married life, Marilyn and her husband moved between different states, including Washington, New York, Pennsylvania, Arizona, California, Montana, and Maine.
Her independent lifestyle and infrequent communication with relatives unfortunately meant that years could pass before anyone realized something might be wrong.
🕯️ Still Missing
Marilyn’s disappearance remains unresolved.
Her family has spent years wondering where she went and what happened to her.
Someone may remember seeing Marilyn, speaking with her, or knowing something about her life after she was last confirmed to be living in Eastport.
Any piece of information could be important.
