💔 VANISHED FROM HOME: The Unsolved Disappearance of Betty Place 🔎🌲

On June 14, 1978, 39-year-old Betty Ann Place disappeared from her home on Joppa Road in Warner, New Hampshire. Her children were left behind, and despite decades of searching and investigation, Betty has never been found.

That morning, Betty sent her 10-year-old daughter, Wendy, to school on the bus while allowing her other daughter, Lisa, to sleep a little longer after being out late the previous night. Betty was hanging laundry when Wendy left.

Later that morning, Wendy told school staff she felt sick. Around noon, a school nurse drove her home, where she discovered that Betty was gone and Lisa was still asleep inside the house.

Wendy noticed mud on the floor and the washing machine left out of place. This was unusual because Betty was known for keeping her home clean and orderly. Lisa did not recall hearing anything unusual, and there were no obvious signs of a struggle.

Betty’s husband, George, and their six children spent the afternoon and evening searching for her and contacting relatives. When their efforts failed, the family reported her missing the following day. Searches of the surrounding area produced no trace of Betty.

🌲 Betty’s family described her marriage to George as happy, although he was considered a suspect during the investigation until his death from cancer in 1992. Before he died, one of their sons reportedly asked whether he knew what had happened to Betty. George denied knowing anything.

In 2010, George’s brother, Raymond, allegedly told Wendy while intoxicated that he had killed her mother. According to Wendy, he described himself as a “monster” who had taken Betty from the woods and claimed she was buried in a field up the road from her home.

Wendy contacted police, who arranged a monitored meeting in the hope that Raymond would repeat the statement. However, he arrived armed with a gun, and authorities called off the operation. Wendy later discovered bones in the field, but they were identified as belonging to a bear.

Raymond’s alleged statements have never been substantiated, and no charges were brought in connection with Betty’s disappearance.

🕊️Betty was a wife and mother of six. She had severe asthma and a life-threatening allergy to bee stings, making her disappearance particularly concerning.

She was approximately 5 feet tall, weighed around 130 pounds, and had brown hair and brown eyes. She was reportedly wearing a housecoat and slippers when she was last seen.

Betty would be 88 years old in 2026. Three of her children have since passed away, while Wendy remains in Warner, living in the same house where she grew up. Her family has never received a definitive explanation for Betty’s disappearance.

🔎 If you have information about Betty Place’s disappearance, please contact the authorities. Even a detail remembered after all these years could help investigators revisit her case.
