π𧩠STILL MISSING: What Happened to Kenneth Warren Hager? π§©π
On April 9, 1947, 11-year-old Kenneth Warren Hager left his family’s home in Baltimore, Maryland, after asking his mother for a piece of ice. He went outside to play, but approximately 45 minutes later, his family realized he was gone. He has never been found.
That afternoon, a streetcar operator and a neighbor reportedly recognized Kenneth near the intersection of Dundalk and Eastern Avenues. However, neither sighting was confirmed.
Kenneth had wandered away once before, approximately two years earlier, and returned to his family’s former neighborhood on East Chase Street. He was found speaking with a neighbor and had burn marks on his arm. He reportedly said a “bad boy” had hurt him.
Kenneth had severe epilepsy and an intellectual disability. He was unable to speak or care for himself independently, and his family worried he might not be able to identify himself. His mother had his name sewn into his clothing for this reason. Kenneth also loved cars and might get into a vehicle if someone invited him.
One possible sighting years later remains particularly intriguing. In 1962, a family friend reportedly encountered a young man at a grocery store in Dundalk who appeared to be approximately 26 or 27 years old. The man was unable to speak and handed her a grocery order to fill. She completed it, but he never returned. His identity was never established, and it remains unknown whether this man could have been Kenneth.
At the time he went missing, Kenneth was approximately 4’10” tall and weighed between 90 and 100 pounds. He had brown hair, brown eyes, a scar on his head, and was missing one of his front teeth.
He was wearing a blue-gray overcoat with his name and address sewn inside, a brown sweater with green figures, a white shirt bearing the name “Kenneth,” brown trousers, gray or brown sneakers, and a navy blue and red skullcap.
π Kenneth would be 91 years old today.
Could someone have encountered Kenneth over the years without knowing who he was? Could the possible 1962 grocery store sighting provide an important clue?
